"Women & the Outdoors" at the 2013 Old FL Outdoor Festival

February 8th - 10th, 2013 in Apopka, FL

Ladies, we welcome you to join us in the Fishing Pavilion, the area of the Festival dedicated solely to anglers. This pavilion will feature hands on demonstrations, appearances by several professional fishermen and women, Fishing Florida Radio personalities, seminars from local captains, as well as involved non-profits. This is a great way to meet other women who share the same passion to be on the water while engaging in hands-on seminars fit for anglers of any experience level.

OFFSHORE FISHING

If you’re an angler who has always wanted to tangle with kingfish, tuna, sharks, mahi, wahoo, marlin and other offshore fare, or someone with big-game experience who want to raise your game to a new level, then you don’t want to miss the free ladies fishing seminar at the Old Fl Outdoor Festival! INSHORE AND FRESHWATER FISHING

Are you looking to become a better inshore or freshwater angler? We encourage you to attend the free ladies seminar for all experience levels. Let us help you find some new fishing holes or point out the right gear to use to land the big one! Check back for the seminar schedule.

KAYAK FISHING
The free kayak seminar at the Old Fl Outdoor festival will consists of selecting the right kayak for your needs, target recognition, tackle/lures, presentation of baits, stealth, and anchoring/positioning. Check back for the seminar schedule.

CONSERVATION

Tagging and marking fish are essential techniques for any fisheries biologist. Marking a fish allows biologists to gather a wide variety of information. Certain marking techniques allow fish to be tracked giving biologists a better understanding of movement and migration patterns.

Join us in Apopka, Florida for a weekend highlighting the outdoor lifestyle! The Old Florida Outdoor Festival will feature birding, fishing, hunting, shooting sports, Highwaymen art, kids activities, a local farmer’s market, backyard chili cook-off, DockDogs, and Florida Barbecue Association BBQ cook-off. Evenings at the Festival will be celebrated with national country music recording artists performing concerts at Northwest Recreation Center’s Amphitheater.

More Information

Avian Reconditioning Center, a care facility for birds of prey, will have various birds of prey on site for display, including bald eagles. Falconers from ARC will also host Harris Hawk flyings on Saturday and Sunday of the Festival.
